这两个词共同的意思是“别的”。它们的区别是：
else常用在疑问副词、疑问代词、不定代词后,而other则可修饰单数或复数名词而位于其前。例如:
Have you anything else to do?你还有别的事要做吗?
There is no one else to compare with him in this respect.在这方面没有其他人比得上他。
Any other man would have done better.换上另外任何人都会做得好些。
I've got other things to think about.我还有别的事要考虑。
这两个短语意思不同。some other day指“今后的某一天”; 而the other day指“不久前的某一天”。
这二者都可表示“另外一个的”。它们的区别是：
another指特定的某人或某物之外的“任何一个”,用于三者以上; the other用于两者之间,指特定的某人或某物之外的“另一个”“剩下的”。

与复数名词连用表示某一集体中“其余的，剩下的(人或物)”。
